     Baldwin Family

Some notes on the Baldwins of Ludham compiled by Beulah Gowing:

Gravestones:

G20 Katherine Baldwin died Sept 17th 1932 aged 80. Also Dorothy Mildred Baldwin, died Dec 6th 1975.

Beulah notes that Dorothy Baldwin visited Ludham frequently and stated exactly where she wanted to be buried after her death.

G21 Herbert Baldwin who died at Laurels Farm, Ludham. 23rd July 1890 aged 36.

Beulah notes that he was Churchwarden and died in the arms of Rev Willmott after many months of suffering and weakness. The lectern in St Catherine's Church was given in his memory.
His wife Katherine was the daughter of Aaron Neave, farmer and owner of Page's Farm and Town Farm (later Cook's shop). Neave gave the land for the building of the present Methodist chapel. (Built by John Chaplin)
Herbert Baldwin and Katherine Neave were married 29th Nov 1877 and he came from Ashmanhaugh (nearby parish) where his father William Baldwin was listed as a "gentleman".

G22 Ethel Kate Baldwin. Who died 1st Aug 1889 in her 9th year.

The heavy iron gate at Laurels Farm is the same as the two at The Grange (FitzHugh family) and also the gate at How Hill Farm. There is a further gate at Ludham Manor and they were clearly made locally.
