Florence Cork was the nanny to the Boardman Children both at Town Close House and later at How Hill. She actually worked for the family for over 50 years. The Boardman family usually referred to their servants by their surname and it was felt that as she had the same name as Mrs Boardman (Florence) it would be better to use a suitable nickname. So she became Corky Nanny Rolfe and Nanny Cork with Joan and Chris. Florence Cork kept her own photograph
album of life with the Boardman family. The photographs
are less formal than some in the main family albums, and
although some are quite badly faded, they show an
insight into the lives of the Boardman children as they
grew up. Here is a selection of pictures from the album.
They are not in any particular order in the book and we
have reflected that here. We hope you enjoy them.
