Gabriel writes... John and Joan Clarke were potters
who produced in Brundall from 1950-8 then moved to
Little Orchard, Lovers Lane, Ludham where they
produced from 1958-1990. They are both now deceased.
They were friends of my mother and father-in-law (Drs
David and Diana Gabriel) at Ludham Manor.
Dr David Gabriel bought their kiln, wheel and stock in
the late 1980’s. We have a parcel of lead glaze that
was originally posted to “Misses and Mr J Clarke” at
The Garth, Brundall Lane, Brundall, Norwich. This
parcel was found in a large storage shed in the
grounds of Ludham Manor. It has been donated to
The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Stoke on
Trent.
